Albuquerque, NM – Today, special agents with the New Mexico Office of the Attorney General
arrested Joshua Saavedra for attempting to solicit sex with a minor. Special agents conducted an
undercover chat operation, in which an agent posed as a mother offering her fictional child for
sex. Saavedra met at a predetermined location, where he was apprehended and taken into
custody.
“My special agents are working the front lines every single day to protect New Mexico’s
children and get dangerous criminals off of our streets,” said Attorney General Hector Balderas.
“Our community is safer today because of the action NMAGO agents took in this case, and the
hard work of our Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.”
Saavedra admitted to being a foster parent, and is charged with child solicitation by electronic
communication device, child exploitation by prostitution, and trafficking controlled substance.
The New Mexico Office of the Attorney is in contact with the New Mexico Children Youth and
Families Department to ensure the safety of all children involved.
