Albuquerque, NM – Today, Malcom Broach was sentenced to seven years in prison for the distribution, and possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), also known as child pornography.
Broach distributed several files of CSAM. An investigation into the sharing of CSAM over peer-to-peer networks was conducted by the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department’s FBI Task Force in conjunction with our Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. The investigation led to Broach, and a search warrant was executed at his residence in 2017 where incriminating files were located. He pleaded to one count of sexual exploitation of children (possession), and one count of sexual exploitation of children (distribution).
“The evidence found at Mr. Broach’s home and on his technological devices was astounding,” said Attorney General Raúl Torrez. “We are grateful the Judge agreed with our argument today and sentenced Mr. Broach to the maximum time in prison allowed under the plea agreement. We hope such a sentence serves as a deterrence for those considering engaging in this repulsive behavior.”

The case was brought as a part of the New Mexico ICAC Task Force’s mission, which is to locate, track and capture internet child sexual predators in New Mexico. There are over 90 federal, state, local and tribal law enforcement agencies associated with the New Mexico ICAC Task Force, which is funded by an Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) grant administered by the New Mexico Office of the Attorney General.
