Job Description

The New Mexico Attorney General’s Office is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Contract and Settlement Coordinator. This role plays a critical part in supporting the legal and finance teams in managing contracts and settlement agreements, ensuring compliance with legal and other requirements, and facilitating efficient processes within the office.  

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage the procurement, review, drafting, and execution of contracts for outside law firms initiating lawsuits on behalf of the Office.   
  • Initiate and comply with procurement laws and regulations to contract with outside law firms.  
  • Collaborate with attorneys and stakeholders to gather necessary information and documentation for contract and settlement negotiations. 
  • Monitor contract and settlement timelines and deadlines, proactively communicating updates to the Chief Administrative Office, Chief Financial Officer and other relevant parties. 
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with settlement agreement requirements including IRS codes and forms.  
  • Maintain a centralized contract and settlement database, ensuring all documents are properly filed and accessible. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Law, Accounting, Business Administration, or Paralegal Studies. 
  • Previous experience in contract management, settlement coordination, or a related legal field is highly desirable. 
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Proficient in using spreadsheets and word processing software. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to collaborate with others.  
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures. 
  • Discretion and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
