Albuquerque, NM – This afternoon, Attorney General Hector Balderas announced that Robert Marrujo, who pleaded guilty in 2017 to child solicitation by electronic device, is going back to jail for six months after violating his probation. In March 2015, Marrujo attempted to have sex with what he thought was an underage girl. After serving a year sentence, Marrujo never showed up to Probation and Parole, thus violating his probation before it even started. Today, the Office of the Attorney General asked the judge to sentence Marrujo to 500 days in jail for the violation. The court sentenced Marrujo to 180 days in the Metropolitan Detention Center.
“Protecting New Mexico children from sexual predators remains a priority of the Office of the Attorney General, and if you violate your probation we will work to send you back to jail,” said Attorney General Hector Balderas. “Today’s sentence should be a reminder that if you fail to report, there will be serious consequences.”
