Santa Fe, NM – This morning, New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas, State Treasurer Tim Eichenberg and State Auditor Tim Keller took their oaths of office surrounded by family, friends and supporters at the Saint Francis Auditorium. New Mexico’s new constitutional officers released the following statements after their inauguration:

Attorney General Hector Balderas: “Thank you to the citizens of New Mexico for entrusting me with the great responsibility of being the state’s chief law enforcement officer. Public safety and the economic security of all New Mexicans will be my top priorities. The people’s work starts today, and with your support, we will build an Attorney General’s Office that protects New Mexico’s children, empowers New Mexico’s families, and leads our great state on the path to prosperity.”

State Treasurer Tim Eichenberg: “Our top priority will be the safety of New Mexico’s financial assets and ensuring our office is open and transparent in all dealings.”

State Auditor Tim Keller: “As your elected State Auditor, it is my mission to help government work better throughout New Mexico. This means providing transparency, oversight, and accountability for all government spending; and advocating for better policy choices that ensure funds are put to work educating our children and strengthening our economy. Together, we can fight fraud, waste and abuse to ensure every New Mexican gets a fair shake from government.”

The historic Saint Francis Auditorium is located inside the New Mexico Museum of Art just off the Santa Fe Plaza. The auditorium was constructed in 1917 as a civic center, but was built in the style of a church to connect with the culture of the time.
