Trainings offered with the intention of teaching New Mexico students how to be financially responsible
Santa Fe, NM – Today, Attorney General Hector Balderas announced the launch of a new financial literacy program, Your Financial Well-Being. The program, created with New Mexico high school and college students in mind, will help students build a strong foundation and understanding of how to be fiscally savvy. Topic areas in the training will include avoiding identity theft, buying a car, building credit, taking on student loans, and using credit cards responsibly.
“I know from personal experience how detrimental it is to lack the knowledge necessary to make informed financial decisions as a young person,” said Attorney General Balderas. “Financial literacy is one of the keys to success, and it is imperative that students across New Mexico have the practical tools they need to protect themselves and make smart decisions related to their finances.”
Trainings can be scheduled starting today, April 17, 2015, first in high schools across the state, with the intention of offering similar trainings to community groups later in the year.
