Tucumcari, NM – Today, Attorney General Hector Balderas put a man convicted of multiple child sex crimes behind bars for a decade. In August, 2017, Anthony Groomas was arrested by NMAGO Special Agents after he sexually exploited, solicited and had sex with underage girls. Based on his convictions Judge Mitchell sentenced Groomas to 10 years behind bars today.

“Protecting New Mexican children is my office’s highest priority,” said Attorney General Hector Balderas. “Our special agents and prosecutors worked tirelessly to bring Groomas to justice. Today, there is one less sexual predator on the streets of New Mexico, and New Mexican children are safer.”

Groomas will spend 10 years in the Department of Corrections. Upon his release he will be under sex offender probation for 5 – 20 years, parole for 5 years to life, and will be required to
register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
