Albuquerque, NM – This afternoon, New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas released
the following statement regarding Trump Education Secretary Betsy DeVos being held in
contempt of court:
“It is absurd that Secretary DeVos cost the taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars to avoid
accountability, and it’s a slap in the face to hundreds of New Mexican students who were
defrauded by a predatory for-profit college.”
Attorney General Balderas has been a leading national critic of DeVos and Trump’s failed
education policies, and has sued the administration numerous times regarding their failures of
New Mexico students and families.
