AG Balderas, DA Luce Announce Indictment of Man for 2017 Murder of Roswell Woman

Albuquerque, NM–This afternoon, Attorney General Hector Balderas and Fifth Judicial District
Attorney Dianna Luce announced that their offices secured an indictment against Castulo Michael
Aragon on counts of First Degree Murder and three counts of Tampering with Evidence for the
2017 murder of Maria Elena Tilton Aragon in Roswell.
“Protecting New Mexicans from domestic violence and prosecuting the most violent offenders in
our State is my top priority,” said Attorney General Balderas. “My office looks forward to
presenting this case to a Chaves County jury and seeking justice on behalf of the victim and her
family.”
“I appreciate the collaboration of resources and personnel with Attorney General Hector Balderas
to prosecute this violent crime and obtain justice for Maria Aragon. As the Fifth District Attorney,
I stand up for victims of domestic violence and violent crimes and seek justice,” said District
Attorney Luce.
This case will be jointly prosecuted by the Office of the Attorney General and the Fifth Judicial
District Attorney’s Office.
