ALBUQUERQUE, NM— Attorney General Hector Balderas announced that Christopher
Trujillo was sentenced by the Second Judicial District Court to 10 years in the New Mexico
Department of Corrections for Sexual Exploitation of Children (Manufacture) and Sexual
Exploitation of Children (Possession) (Child Under 13). Trujillo shared child exploitation
materials online and engaged in a conversation with another internet user about sharing
them.
“I am committed to protecting New Mexico’s children from dangerous predators, and I am
glad to see justice done in this case,” said Attorney General Balderas.
On August 10, 2018, Trujillo pled guilty to the charges and faced up to 10 years of
incarceration followed by a period of sex-offender probation. Today, Trujillo was
sentenced to the full 10 years. The sentencing court noted that the sentence was
supported by Trujillo’s interest in the sexual abuse of young children alone.
After serving his 10-year prison sentence, Trujillo will be placed on supervised sex
offender probation and parole for five to 20 years. This case was prosecuted by Assistant
Attorney General Jonathan Gardner.
