Attorney General Gary King is committed to protecting New Mexicans from abuses in government. One of his top priorities is to prevent public officials from becoming involved in any violations of “good government” laws and ethical standards. The Government Accountability Division’s mission is to evaluate, investigate and prosecute cases of public corruption.

Public corruption poses the greatest single threat to the credibility of government institutions at all levels. It undermines good government, fundamentally distorts public policy and perception, leads to the misallocation of resources, fosters unethical behavior and ultimately harms all New Mexicans either directly or indirectly.
