Our mission at the Office of the Attorney General is to protect New Mexico Families by engaging communities—especially those with underserved populations—in order to fully understand the systemic failures that perpetuate cycles of violence, victimization, and poverty.

The Policy and Public Affairs Division is committed to building public/private partnerships to empower, educate, and encourage New Mexicans to overcome the social, environmental, and financial challenges of the twenty-first century.

The Division's main functions are:

  • Handling legislative affairs
  • Serving as the conduit for constituent affairs and community outreach
  • Employing a specialized group of advocates for victims’ rights and crisis response
  • Communicating transparently and providing meaningful information and services to New Mexicans.
