Statutory Authority
The New Mexico Attorney General’s Office is an executive agency of the State
of New Mexico, established by the New Mexico Constitution. Pursuant to Section 8-5-17
NMSA (1998 Repl.), the Attorney General is empowered to represent residential and
small business consumers in utility regulatory matters. Pursuant to Section 8-5-2(J)
NMSA (1998 Repl.), the Attorney General is empowered to represent the public interest
of the State of New Mexico.
