Attorney General Gary K. King is committed to using his office to fight crime in New Mexico. The Special Investigations Unit provides expert investigative special agents to assist local, state and federal agencies in major criminal investigations across the state.

The Special Investigations Unit assists district attorneys and local law enforcement agencies in complex or multi-jurisdictional investigations and in cases where local conflicts of interest arise; and conducts special investigations as directed by the Attorney General. The Unit investigates a broad range of criminal inquiries and cases, including violent crimes, such as child abuse, homicide, and sexual assaults. 

Additionally, the Special Investigations Unit investigates white collar crimes and multi-jurisdictional crimes, working in cooperation with federal agencies to ensure that all investigative avenues are utilized to facilitate successful prosecution and justice for the citizens of New Mexico.
