2009 Annual Report from the Attorney General
Monday, February 22, 2010
One of my constitutionally mandated duties is to provide the Legislature with an annual report on the activities of the Attorney General's Office. The question came up frequently during the just concluded legislative session; "What exactly does the Attorney General's Office do?" Since the report is somewhat lengthy, I am splitting it up into two parts with this submission being Part One.
Despite budgetary constraints, a great deal was accomplished for New Mexico in 2009 by the professionals in the Attorney General's Office. The following report provides highlights of the work accomplished by our 14 divisions that handle: Special Prosecutions; Civil Actions; Internet Technology; Border Violence(foreign prosecutions/international extradition); Violence Against Women; Medicaid Fraud & Elder Abuse; Communications (public information education & outreach); Litigation; Water-Environment-Utilities; Administrative Services; Criminal Appeals; Consumer Protection; Government Accountability; Investigations; and Legislative issues.
