NM Attorney General's Office Newsroom

The Communications division strives to facilitate contact between the public and their “lawyer” Attorney General King. It is this office’s practice to provide as much information as possible about issues and legal cases being handled by the Attorney General’s office. The statutory responsibilities of the office are many and wide-ranging and thus so are the requests for information from the public. The Communications staff handles daily requests for information, clarification, opinions and help.

Money New Method for Reporting Suspected Scams to Attorney General

New Mexico Attorney General Gary King’s Office has a new email address for people to report possible scams. Such potential scams can now be reported directly to the office at communications@nmag.gov.

Attorney General Gary King says fellow AGs from 44 States and the District of Columbia have entered into an Assurance of Voluntary Compliance (AVC) agreement with MoneyGram Payment Systems, Inc. that will help to protect consumers from losing money through fraudulent money transfers.

Money AG King: Summer Travel Scam Alert

Attorney General Gary King wants New Mexicans to be wary of discount travel companies passing through our state offering Summer vacation deals that sound too good to be true. The AG’s Office has received information that at least one out of state company offering “free” airline tickets and car rental is currently operating in the Santa Fe area. The problem is…the tickets and car rental are not really “free.”

New Mexico consumers have alerted the New Mexico Attorney General’s Office of possible fraudulent activity on Craig’s List involving ads for home lease/rentals as well as vehicle and television sales.
